Exclusive Interview with Opeyemi Emdin
Whats your real name and stage name?
I am Opeyemi Michael Emdin and my stage name is Opeyemi Emdin although calling me Emdin is also allowed.
When did you start music and which instrument do you play?
I started music back then in 2008, I played guitar very well due to my love for traditional sounds too, I play konga quite well.
What really inspired you into music?
What inspired me into music is what I can't explain, its unexplainable. The passions just too real and words can't explain that.
Describe your family members musical interests and abilities?
My Dad is a lyricist, he is the one who I know got passion for music in my family
List of the songs you have recorded?
I have a lot of songs like Shayo, Making the money, How we roll, Show me the way etc. My latest song is 'Aunty Natasha and it will be out fully in December.
Which famous musician do you admire and what have you learnt from him/her?
I admire Wande Coal alot , he is awesome. I learnt how yo be real and pass messages worth listening to with my music.
Have you been in any competition or won any award?
I have not been in any competition. I don't value that and I have been to few awards though never won any yet.
Do you perform in public and how do you handle mistakes during performance?
Yes I perform in public, carnivals, concerts even weedings sometimes.I don't think I make mistakes anymore at this stage.
Do you get nervous during performance and how do you handle music with other obligations?
No i don't get nervous, being bold is part art. Well talking about balancing music and other obligations, I do balance them. Its easy just about being focused and knowing what to do at the right time.
Do you write your songs yourself?
Yea yea I do write all my songs myself , am not good in freestyling but I do write very well and am good at it.
What do you want to tell your fans out there?
I love you all so much, I hope you guys keep supporting and believing in me. I do this for them.
