Senate Starts Screening Of Buharis Rec Nominees
Senate starts the screening of president Buhari nominees for resident electoral commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission. The law makers began the screening on Wednesday, weeks after the refused to carryout the exercise as a result of their standoff with the presidency over the acting the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
President Buhari have forwarded the name of 27 Rec nominees to the senate on March 23.
Five days later , on march 28 they refuse to screen the nominees after criticising the President for keeping Magu as acting EFCC chairman even though they have rejected him twice.
They also accused Buharis appointees of disrespecting and disregarding the senate. Following their decision to proceed the exercise on Wednesday, eight of the REC nominees were screened with more expected to appear before law makers on Thursday.
