NSCDC Arrests Candidate With Gun at UTME Centre
The Nasarawa state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) has arrested a 21years old man for being in possession of a firearm in one of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) centres in the state.
The suspect was arrested at the Nasarawa State Polytechnic centre during a search during a search at the examination centre entrance to examination hall.
The suspect was found to be in possession of a locally made pistol and two rounds of live ammunition. During investigation the suspect said someone gave him the gun to keep for safe keeping.
The suspect would be arraigned for illegal possession of firearms. Even registered guns are not allowed at examination centres.
One Mohammed Alakayi from Domain local government of the state has been arrested for allegedly posing as recruitment agent for NSCDC.
The suspect was arrested with full uniform of NSCDC and fake recruitment forms.
He will be charged for fraud and impersonation after the investigation is over.
