EFCC; How We Recovered $9M from Andrew Yakubus House
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday opened its case of a former managing director of Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC )
Mr. Andrew Yakubu.
The EFCC opened his case by calling one its investigative officer Mr. Tamiu Abubakar as the first eye witness.
During his testimony Mr. Abubakar gave witness of how the anti-graft agency recovered $9m and €79,000 from the house of Yakuttbu in Kaduna
According to the eye witness around February this year the Kano Zonal of The EFCC received information that there was a house in Sabon
Tsah in Kaduna state where a huge sum of money suspected to be proceed of corruption is kept.Mr. Abubakar said when the house was raided a safe was recovered from the premises in which the stated sum amount of money was found. He told the court that after the money was counted the legal unit of EFCC applied and obtained an interim forfeiture order which led to keep the money in the custody of Central Bank of Nigerias Office in Kano state.
In following his testimony Justice Ahmed Mohammed adjourned the case till May 24 for the cross examination of the witness.
